ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP)
CountryWideBB (CWBB) Version 1.0 — March 2026
1. Purpose
This policy explains the rules for using CWBB internet services. It protects our customers, our network, and the communities we serve. We keep it simple, fair, and grounded in common sense.
2. Using the Service Responsibly
You must use CWBB services in a lawful, respectful, and reasonable way. This includes:
- Following Australian laws and regulations
- Respecting others online
- Avoiding behaviour that harms the network or other customers
- Keeping your account secure
- Using the service in a way that is consistent with typical household use (for residential plans)
3. Prohibited Activities
You must not use the service for:
- Illegal activities of any kind
- Harassment, threats, abuse, hate, or defamation
- Sharing or accessing illegal content
- Sending unsolicited commercial electronic messages (Spam) in breach of the Spam Act 2003
- Infringing copyright or distributing copyrighted material without permission
- Interfering with network performance or security
- Attempting to bypass network controls or restrictions
- Running servers, automated systems, or high‑impact workloads that degrade service for others
- Using a residential service for commercial, business, or multi‑premises use
- Any activity that would reasonably be considered unreasonable use or inconsistent with ordinary household use
4. Examples of Harmful or Unreasonable Use
To keep the service stable for everyone, the following behaviours are not allowed:
- Overloading or disrupting the network (including DoS or flooding attacks)
- Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of any system or network
- Attempting to bypass authentication or security controls
- Servicing more than one premises from a single connection
- Using the service as a public Wi‑Fi hotspot for multiple unrelated users
- Any use that causes congestion, interference, or sub‑optimal performance for other customers
- Using automated systems or high‑volume workloads that exceed typical household usage patterns
These examples are not exhaustive — they illustrate the types of behaviour that harm the network or other customers.
5. Network Protection
To keep the service stable for everyone, CWBB may:
- Manage traffic during periods of congestion
- Block harmful traffic (malware, DDoS sources, spam sources)
- Contact you if your usage is causing issues
- Restrict or suspend services that cause network harm
- Take action to protect the network, our customers, and our wholesale agreements
We only take action when necessary to ensure fair access for all customers.
6. Security
You are responsible for:
- Securing your devices
- Using strong passwords
- Keeping your home network protected
- Reporting suspicious activity
CWBB is not responsible for damage caused by insecure devices or networks.
7. Breaches of This Policy
If this policy is breached, CWBB may:
- Contact you to resolve the issue
- Request that you change how you are using the service
- Temporarily restrict or shape your service
- Suspend or terminate your service for serious or repeated breaches
- Immediately suspend or terminate access without notice if the breach is severe, unlawful, or poses a risk to the network or other customers
- Report illegal activity to authorities
We always aim for a fair and reasonable approach, but we must also protect our customers and the network.
